ABOUT HOPEVALE COMMUNITY

Hopevale is a community of 1,500 people, who are part of the local Guugu Yimithirr Tribe and from other parts of Queensland.

Situated 48kms North West of Cooktown, in a beautiful valley, Hopevale is surrounded by tropical native bushland and mountain ranges, abundant in ancient caves, painted for thousands of years by the Guugu Yimithirr people. The Coloured sands at Elim beach, North East of Hopevale, traditional country of the Thiithaarr clan, offers a palate of a wonderful variety of colours, fascinating local people and visitors as much today as in ancient times.

To visit Hope Vale follow the signs out of Cooktown along Endeavour Valley Road.
